Dr Nicholas Little (DClinPsy, MSc, PGDip, BSW, BA) is a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Associate at Harrison Psychology Group, London

Dr Nicholas Little NHS and Private Psychologist

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with 20 years of experience in the helping professions, having worked in the NHS, academia, and the charity sector before specialising in private practice. I approach my work from a compassionate, open-minded perspective, mindful that it can be challenging to speak openly about our struggles. My aim is to create a space that feels gentle and supportive, while also offering practical tools that foster personal growth.

In my practice, I enjoy working across a range of issues, but I’m particularly passionate about relationship-focused work with individuals. I often start by formulating using Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), building on that with a combination of attachment theory and interventions, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).  My work also integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic approaches.  Additionally, I am newly certified to provide EMDR for trauma and other struggles.

Whatever approaches we may draw on in our work as therapist and client, my focus is on helping you to de-shame your past and present-day experiences, improve the effectiveness of your communication with others, build the skills and confidence necessary to set and maintain personal boundaries, and — most importantly — to feel worthy of doing so..

I have a special interest in working with GSRD (Gender, Sex & Relationship Diversity) and LGBTQ+ communities.  In our sessions, you are welcome to speak openly about gender, sex, and sexuality; class and income; ethnicity and racism; physical appearance; what it's like to migrate between countries and cultures; oppression, power, and privilege, and also spirituality.  I pay close attention to how minority stress and intersectionality can produce feelings of pain, fear, shame, and isolation.

Originally from Canada, I moved to the UK in 2009, where I earned my Master's in social psychology from the London School of Economics and my Doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Oxford. Before qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, I worked as a social worker, researcher, and educator. I now work full time in private practice and welcome anyone who feels they may need support in these areas to contact me via our practice.
